How to Test Your Live Stream Before a Show

Run a pre-show test to avoid silent streams, wrong audio, or connection issues.

A short pre-show test helps prevent problems when listeners are waiting. First, open your broadcasting software and check the correct station profile is selected. Confirm the server address, port, mount point, username, and format match your control panel. Play a test track locally and watch the audio meters. Speak into the microphone and check that voice levels are not too quiet or distorted. Connect to the stream and confirm the radio panel shows your live source. Open the public listener URL on another device and listen for at least one minute. Test on Wi-Fi and, if possible, another network. If AutoDJ should stop when live starts, confirm it switches correctly. After testing, disconnect if the show is not ready to begin.
